Description of target: Pattern receptor that binds to murein peptidoglycans (PGN) of Gram-positive bacteria. Has bactericidal activity towards Gram-positive bacteria. May kill Gram-positive bacteria by interfering with peptidoglycan biosynthesis. Binds also to Gram-negative bacteria. Involved in innate immunity. May function in intracellular killing of bacteria. The soluble form triggers apoptosis in vitro.3 Publications
Manually curated information for which there is published experimental evidence.

Manual assertion based on experiment iniRef.1"A peptidoglycan recognition protein in innate immunity conserved from insects to humans."_x005F_x005F_x000D_Kang D., Liu G., Lundstroem A., Gelius E., Steiner H._x005F_x005F_x000D_Proc.
